Other polymers

Styrenics

  • GPPS (General Purpose Polystyrene):

With its clear and high gloss finish, its transparency, good strength and weatherability, it is suitable for use in moulding of a myriad of consumer goods such as plastic cups.

  • HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene):

Opaque and white and consisting of clear PS and rubber, it is a versatile, economical and impact resistant polymer that is easy to process.

  • ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene):

Its good strength and impact properties make ABS ideal for applications with glossy surface like household and consumer goods, automotive parts and toys.

  • MABS (Methylmethacrylate Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene):

Its excellent transparency as well as good mechanical properties make it the perfect fit for applications requiring transparency like electronic devices, frames and panels.

  • SAN (Styrene Acrylonitrile):

Its low ductility allows for it to be used instead of polystyrene due to its higher thermal resistance.

Engineering polymers

  • PA 6 (Polyamide 6) and PA 6.6 (Polyamide 6.6)

One of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics due to its balanced properties in strength, stiffness and chemical resistance.

PA 6.6. is an excellent candidate for metal replacement due to its balance of mechanical properties and heat and chemical resistance.

Polyamides can be modified into "PA Compounds" to  improve its mechanical properties, heat and chemical resistance.

  • PC (Polycarbonate):

Its high performance properties make it the leading plastic for various applications requiring high operating temperatures and safety features.

  • PPS (Polyphenylene sulfide):

PPS is a semicrystalline polymer offering excellent properties in high temperature and chemical resistance as well as dimension stability

Elastomers

Elastomers are rubbery materials capable of recovering their original shape after significant stretching. Under normal conditions, the long molecules form an elastomer, and the material is arranged irregularly.

Additives

A wide range of products are added to polymers to improve or modify their properties for their intended application:

  • Anti-mist.

  • Antistatic agents.

  • UV protectors.

  • Nucleating agents.

  • Foaming agents.

  • Process aids.

  • Slip and antislip.

  • Block and antiblock.
